The notice of election for the Scottish Parliamentary election taking place on Thursday 7 May has now been published.

Voting takes place between 7am and 10pm, and there will be two ballot papers – one is the constituency ballot paper (lilac colour) and this is to elect a person to be your constituency MSP.
The other paper is the regional ballot paper (peach colour) and this is to elect a regional MSP.
There are four constituencies in the South Lanarkshire Council area:
- Clydesdale, East Kilbride and Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse constituencies are all contained within the South Scotland Region.
- Rutherglen and Cambuslang constituency is contained within the Glasgow Region.
For those resident in the constituency of Uddingston and Bellshill, this will be administered by North Lanarkshire Council.
To vote in this election, eligible voters must be aged 16 or over and must be registered to vote by midnight on Monday 20 April.
If you are already registered to vote and are on the electoral register in South Lanarkshire, you do not need to re-register.

Returning Officer Paul Manning said: “It’s important that everyone exercises their democratic right to vote, so if you are not registered then please do so as soon as possible.”
